Medicinal Cannabis Distributors and Cultivators to present at B.C. Civil Liberties Association "Beyond Prohibition" Cannabis Conference
May 6, 2004: On Saturday the 8th of May, the B.C. Civil Liberties Association will be presenting "Beyond Prohibition", a multi-disciplinary conference examining what legal cannabis might look like in Canada . The all-day event will highlight many board members of Canadians for Safe Access (www.safeaccess.ca), including Hilary Black and Rielle Capler of the British Columbia Compassion Club Society (the nationís oldest and largest compassion society); Eric Nash and Wendy Little, Canada's first certified organic cannabis cultivators; and Philippe Lucas founder of the Vancouver Island Compassion Society and Canadians for Safe Access.
Other featured speakers include esteemed politicians, researchers and activists from around the world, including the Honourable Pierre Claude Nolin, Senator and Chair of the Senate Special Committee on Illegal Drugs; Walter McKay of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition; Keith Stroup, Executive Director of NORML; Peter Cohen, Dutch drug policy researcher; Eugene Oscapella, Director of the Canadian Foundation for Drug Policy; and Steph Sherer, Director of Americans for Safe Access. Introductory remarks will be given by the Honourable Larry Campbell, Mayor of Vancouver.
